Google Files Lawsuit Against Microsoft in the EU:
Google has filed a lawsuit against Microsoft with the European Commission, accusing the tech giant of anti-competitive practices. Google claims Microsoft is using unfair licensing tactics to lock customers into its Azure cloud platform by making it costly for them to switch to competing services like Google Cloud or Amazon’s AWS.
According to Google Cloud Vice President Amit Zavery, Microsoft has raised prices by 400% for businesses wanting to run Windows Server on non-Microsoft platforms. Additionally, Google alleges that Microsoft has placed restrictions on European customers, making it difficult to move workloads to rival cloud services.
The lawsuit aims to end what Google sees as unfair competition, arguing that Microsoft’s practices limit customer choice and stifle competition in the cloud services market. Google hopes the legal action will create a level playing field for all cloud service providers.
