Government Designates Power Sector Jobs as Essential Services: The federal govt has declared employment under all Pakistan power sector entities, including distribution companies, generation companies, National Transmission and Dispatch Company, and the Ministry of Energy (Power) as essential to ensure uninterrupted operations of organizations.
Sources told that the Ministry of Interior has issued a letter on declaring services under the above-mentioned department essential for another period of six months.
The notification SRO. (1)/2024 mentioned, “WHEREAS the Federal Govt thinks that employment under all DISCs, GENCOs and NTDC Ministry of Energy Power Division of Pakistan is essential to make sure uninterrupted operation of the organization”.
NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers granted by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Pakistan Essential Services Act, 1952 (LIll of 1952), the Federal Govt is pleased to declare all Pakistan Power Sector Entities including Distribution Companies, Generation Companies and National Transmission and Dispatch Company, Ministry of Energy Power Division of Pakistan as essential services for a period of Six (06) months we.f 26-07-2024,” it stated.
