More Cities in Punjab to Receive Free Wi-Fi: Punjab’s free Wi-Fi initiative is expanding, bringing free internet access to over 230 locations across multiple cities. This move aligns with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of enhancing connectivity in the province. The Safe City project has been instrumental in this expansion, with Lahore leading the way with 200 free Wi-Fi spots, followed by Sheikhupura, Kasur, and Nankana Sahib.
The initiative has already benefited around 7.7 million users, consuming 111 terabytes of data in the last quarter, maintaining a 98.7% availability rate. The service is significantly improving access to education, business, and social interactions, making life easier for residents.
This development is a major step toward transforming Punjab into a more digitally connected region, potentially serving as a model for other provinces in Pakistan. The continued expansion of free Wi-Fi coverage is expected to have a lasting impact on the province’s digital infrastructure.
