Pakistan Launches Satellite-Based Broadband Internet to Compete with Elon Musk’s Starlink: Pakistan has made a significant advancement in its space program with the launch of PakSat-MM1, the country’s first multi-mission satellite. This satellite aims to provide space-based broadband services, especially in remote and underserved areas, positioning Pakistan to compete with Elon Musk’s Starlink.

Furthermore, Minister of State for IT, Shaza Fatima, highlighted PakSat-MM1 as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s new National Space Policy. The satellite is hope to revolutionize internet access in rural regions, overcoming challenges faced by traditional infrastructure. Fatima emphasized its potential to transform sectors like education and healthcare through enhanced digital connectivity.

SUPARCO Chairman Yusuf Khan and PakSat CEO Khalid Rashid praised the satellite’s capabilities, which add broadband internet, telecommunications, and data transfer. PakSat-MM1 is also set to better nationwide internet speeds and provide 5G coverage, addressing both high costs and logistical challenges of telecom infrastructure development in difficult-to-reach areas.
