Punjab Makes Biometric Attendance Mandatory in Another Government Department: The Punjab Home Department has introduced mandatory biometric attendance for all prison employees and officers as part of ongoing reforms in the province’s jail system. Following the directives of the Chief Minister, a notification was issued to the Inspector General (IG) of Prisons, Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs), and jail superintendents to enforce this system.
Under this directive, every staff member is required to record their attendance via the biometric system at the start and end of each working day. Failure to comply will result in the employee being marked absent.
This reform aims to enhance accountability and ensure punctuality among prison personnel across Punjab. The new attendance policy reflects the government’s commitment to improving the operational efficiency of public sector departments.
