Sindh Declares Public Holiday for Next Week: The Sindh govt has marked a public holiday on September 17 to mark Eid Milad-un-Nabi, the 12th of Rabi ul Awwal.
As by the notification released on Thursday, all govt offices and educational institutions across the province will be closed on this day.
This direction aligns with similar announcements from both the Punjab and federal govts, which also declared September 17 a public holiday celebrating Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
Furthermore the holiday announcement, the Sindh govt has banned pillion riding on motorcycles in major cities, including Karachi, due to security concerns.
On the other hand, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has been actively advocating for the significance of Rabi ul Awwal. On Thursday, he sent letters to the Prime Minister and Sindh Chief Minister, inforcing the importance of celebrating Eid Milad-un-Nabi with the proper religious zeal. The governor Sindh proposed declaring a public holiday on the 11th of Rabi ul Awwal as well.
