Recent Railway Initiatives
Recently, Pakistan Railways introduced another special train from Karachi to Raiwind on November 6. Comprising 14 economy-class coaches, this service is expected to generate about Rs. 8.5 million in revenue, contributing to the organization’s 2024-25 fiscal target of Rs. 100 billion.
Revenue and Growth Targets
Pakistan Railways achieved a record income of Rs. 88 billion in the last fiscal year, a 40% increase from the previous year. This was supported by:
- Ticket Sales: Rs. 47 billion
- Freight Services: Rs. 28 billion
- Leasing Railway Land and other sources: Rs. 13 billion
Enhanced Services and Public Trust
CEO Amir Ali Baloch noted that these special trains, particularly during events like Eid, have increased public trust in Pakistan Railways’ services. With these initiatives, Pakistan Railways continues to support community events and strengthen its revenue base.
